Srinivas has completed his post-graduation in English and subsequently worked as a Lecturer in English for three years.

In 1988, He joined Indian Express as a sub-editor and later transitioned to The Hindu in 1994. During his tenure at The Hindu, he held the positions of Associate Editor and News Editor until his retirement.
