International Women’s Day: Meet our development manager Priyanka Parthiban

At Mindwave, we have so many amazing women who form part of our expert teams. So, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2021, we would like you to get to know some of our female leaders a little better, starting with our development manager, Priyanka Parthiban.

Priyanka shares details about her career journey, her inspirations, favourite projects she has worked on and advice for women looking to begin a career in healthtech:

Tell us a little more about your role at Mindwave

My role involves managing the development cycle for Personal Health Record (PHR) projects, developing applications using various web frameworks, R&D in new tech, and ensuring delivery of PHR projects in better quality. PHRs allow users to access their health data and manage their own health and wellbeing via an app.

Tell us a little more about your career journey

I completed my B.Tech in 2017 and started my career as a full-stack developer at a startup company. Usually, startups give exposure to all functions of the company and while working there I was able to upgrade my professional status and I learned so much during that year. After that, I joined Mindwave as a senior developer.

At Mindwave, I feel that people are recognised for what they do and not for their age, gender or years of work experience. After a year, I was promoted to development manager and I am continuing my work with confidence.

What advice would you give to women who want to get into healthtech?

Finding a career path in something you love to do and keeps you interested is much more fulfilling.

You have to ask questions, you have to learn from others and you have to be comfortable failing and being wrong.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I enjoy getting output for the new things researched and developed.

What has been your favourite project to work on at Mindwave so far?

Everything – but as a developer, I enjoy developing mobile apps so I can say “SURE Recovery”. This is the first hybrid app that I developed from scratch.

What inspires you?

The biggest inspiration in my life is every challenge that comes my way. Challenges, much more than anything else, keep me up no matter how hard they can get sometimes. I always believe that while challenges were meant to sometimes distract us, they can also give us hope and inspire us to be better.

What is your biggest accomplishment so far?

Having reached here as a development manager in a short span purely because of smart work and efficiency.

Name an app that you use regularly for your health and wellbeing?

Fitbit

What are your hobbies and interests outside of work?

Crafts, painting, learning to play musical instruments and gardening.

If you could have any superpower what would it be and why?

Teleportation – I love to travel. So, I would use this power to travel all over the world!

Tell us something about you that we don’t know

I have a fear of reptiles.
